About Us
+ British Horn Society / History
The British Horn Society was formed in 1980 as a way to galvanise the horn playing community of Great Britain. Since it’s first festival in the Easter of that year, the Society has worked tirelessly to promote this majestic instrument with young people picking up the horn for the first time, to keen amateurs and seasoned professionals.
The Society’s annual festival is the highlight of the horn player's calendar, bringing together high profile soloists, clinicians, manufacturers and enthusiasts for a day of music making and friendship.
The BHS is keen to promote opportunities for young players, providing ensemble days, inspirational workshops, horn specific CPD for brass teachers and an increasing online presence. It operates a free instrument loan scheme for young members and awards a bursary each year. Members also receive three copies a year of The Horn Player - our very own magazine filled with news, articles and reviews.
